The sight of red, gold standout amidst the collage of colors that meets my eyes. The jasmine scent from the burning joss sticks fills my nose. The sound of peace and tranquility occupies my mind. I have entered the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum.

Located in Chinatown, the Buddha Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple and museum that has a vivid reddish color on the outside but its greatest treasure is inside.

Based on the Tang dynasty architectural style and built to house the tooth relic of the historical Buddha. The ground breaking ceremony was conducted on 13 March 2005. Costing S$62 million and 2 years later, a soft launch was held to coincide with the 2007 Vesak Day celebration. It is claimed that the relic of Buddha from which it gains its name was found in 1980 in a collapsed stupa in Myanmar. The relic can be viewed by the public at the 4th floor of the temple.

The place houses exhibitions about Buddhism and has a very rich collection related to its culture. It has several floors, a decoration with a lot of gold and gold, space for meditation, for the realization of prayers and a garden on the top floor where there is a wheel for prayers and good luck. In one of its floors, also exists a stupa (monument that keeps mortal remains) all constructed in gold. If you are lucky enough to visit the venue while people sing and chant, the visit will become even more charming and amazing!

My favorite part is the upper level of the temple. You are on an open terrace garden with plenty of shade and it is very peaceful up there. You can see the surrounding city and the bustle of Chinatown below from up there and it felt like a little secret garden. Not very secret as there are visitors along with you all the time, but certainly not that crowded. There is a small building in the center of the terrace and all the paths on the terrace lead to it from each corner. Housed inside it is a large Tibetan prayer wheel. Almost everyone who went in could not resist turning the wheel for a bit.

It is a great place for anyone looking for a quiet attraction and that conveys peace.

It is also an opportunity to know more about Buddhism and meditate.
