|Fashions are tumbling over each other with many catwalk shows sweeping the Colombo scene. Last weekend and on the Sunday gone by there were two shows, the one of a collection of styles from Singapore designer Hayden NG at the Ivy Room of the Cinnamon Grand, and the other a spectacular showcasing of Sri Lankan designers and their work organised by the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Army at the Mt. Lavinia Hotel with the first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest. The Hayden show organised by the Singapore Sri Lanka Club had two showings, the first brought many of the fashion conscious elite, both men and women to watch clothes of elegance, feminine and charming, most of it in flowing fabrics including net over chiffon and gleaming satins and silks. There were trouser suits, cocktail gowns and evening dresses which were feminine to the hilt and very wearable, with a show stopper evening gown in sequin encrusted mint green modelled by Miss. Singapore for Miss. Universe 2009 Radhel Kum.
To contribute to a good cause the The National Thalassaemia Centre in Kurunegala, the Executive Committee headed by Elias Abraham, with Champa Mohinani, Badrika Mendis, Naserah Rajkotwela, Jackie Mei and several others ensuring the show was a great success which was an insight to the western styles through the eyes of an eastern designer.
